Gas Test Atmospheres (GTA) Course
MSMWHS217 – Gas Test Atmospheres
This course is for those who are required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or work space to determine if it is safe.
Prerequisites
- You must be 18 years of age (as evidenced by photo ID – driver’s license, passport, etc.)
- Must complete our Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test before enrolling.
Students will attain the practical application and understanding required to effectively carry out atmospheric gas testing and will be able to:
Theory
- Determine atmosphere to be tested
- Select and calibrate equipment
- Determine a Testing Regime
- Identify Hazards
- Apply Hazard Control Measures
Practical
- Use equipment to test gas
- Interpret and report readings
- Conduct ongoing monitoring
- Take action if readings pose an unacceptable risk
- Maintain gas testing equipment
- Maintain records
Qualification
A Statement of Attainment and wallet sized card will be issued upon the successful completion of the course indicating the nationally recognised unit of competency.
